For most, the idea of being healthy is quite simple and straightforward. I’m not that way. I’m very aware that I’m a mess. It’s easy to feel bad about yourself, to feel like you’re a failure. This mentality can lead to a lot of depression, and to the point of suicidal thoughts.
In reality, the more we feel like our actions are not making us happy, the easier it is for depression and suicidal thoughts to take hold. So the first thing we should do is take the time to feel good about ourselves. Do you have a bad habit that you want to change? No matter what the habit is, you should take the time to make the change.
I feel like I should add that if you feel like you’re not doing something to feel good about yourself, you should do it. You can’t be happy, mentally or physically if you’re not doing something to make you feel good about yourself.
The second thing we should do is start to take control of our lives. In order to do that we need to feel good about ourselves. The first step in feeling good about ourselves is to make a conscious effort to take care of our bodies and our health. Taking control of our health is the second step. We can do this by eating well, getting enough sleep, exercising regularly, and getting enough sleep. We can also control our moods and emotions.
I know it may sound counter-intuitive, but it is possible to “unlearn” bad habits. In the case of smoking, quitting was easy because smoking is like a habit. The second step is to control our moods and emotions by practicing positive self-talk.
I’m not saying that any of this is easy, but it is possible. In particular, I’ve talked to many people who have made the effort to stop smoking. Not only do they become healthier but they usually quit smoking much sooner. There’s something to be said about the good that comes from finding a way to do the hard work yourself.
The fact is that a lot of us don’t really remember what we used to do. After smoking for 30-years, Ive made the effort to start smoking again. This time, Ive found that its easier. Ive been able to stop smoking in about half the time it took before, and this is without counting the amount of times Ive been able to quit smoking in the past 5 years. You can do it.
