With Halloween just a few weeks away, I wanted to create a Halloween-themed dish that was a little more grown up. I wanted to make a dessert that would not only be my favorite but also have good-natured humor to boot. I knew I had to make a pumpkin pie, but I didn’t want it to be overly sweet and overly sugary – which is usually the case.
I knew that I could use the pumpkins that I already had, but I needed something that would look a little more ghoulish. I wanted to mix in some orange peel, but I didnt want it to look too much like a pumpkin pie. A really good pumpkin would be more of a orange zucchini pumpkin with a lot of orange peel, but I needed to make sure that I didn’t lose any of the nice green color that I would normally have.
The final pumpkin carving I added was of a pumpkin with a couple of oranges carved into it and the skin was a nice shade of orange. I then topped it off with some pumpkin pie filling and orange sugar. You can see it in the video below.
For my pumpkin carving I used the recipe given at and then added some orange peel (which I purchased at my local grocery store at the $2.99 per pound mark) and a few pumpkins that I baked in the oven. I hope you like it.

As a side note, I wanted to say that I love pumpkin carving and all the different pumpkin recipes out there in the world. It’s one of those things that is so easy to fall back on but also so hard to master that I really appreciate the variety. I also like to take it a step further and carve pumpkins out of something like chocolate or brownies or cookies. That way, you can really get creative with it.
Pumpkin carving is a great way to turn a boring cookie/brownie recipe into something unique, tasty, and yummy. And the other thing is that you can turn a boring recipe into something that can’t be topped with a chocolatey frosting. And the last thing is that you can turn a pumpkin into a Halloween decoration, if you so choose.
The most important thing to remember with pumpkin carving is that you need to carve the pumpkin into the shape of a witch. You can’t carve into a cookie pumpkin or a pumpkin with a cat on it, or you’ll just end up looking like a big, weird pumpkin. As for the second most important thing to remember, you need to carve the pumpkin into the shape of a witch. That’s a lot harder than carving a cookie or anything else.
