It’s been a warm week in the desert, and a couple of local families are celebrating the beginning of Hanukkah. One of the local merchants has a manorah, and they’ve been collecting these for a long time. We all know the story of how one of the menorah’s was stolen and a couple of local kids get a new one.
Its been a while since any kids have a menorah, so they are excited to see a new one for the first time. However, they might need some help in getting their new one. Its the story of The Chutzpah Club, a group of neighborhood kids that get together to build a menorah and a menorah for the needy. The Chutzpah Club is made up of children ages 4-6.
We already know that there are a couple of kids who get new menorahs for the first time, but there are so many more kids who have done this that it’s hard to keep track of all of them. So we will have to wait until they get their menorahs to count them in.
We’re counting them, but we’ll just say that there are about 120+ to go. They will be the first of many new menorahs that we’ll learn about as we check out Deathloop.
The first thing we learned was that there are many more kids who have done this. We also learned that the Chutzpah Club was a very special club, with special powers, and that the owner of the club was actually the original Chutzpah. The club was founded by an 8-year-old boy with the power to throw snowballs and perform other superpowers.
The Chutzpah Club is not some generic club for kids. The Chutzpah Club is a high-tech security force that uses special technology to track down bad guys. The Chutzpah Club is not just for kids either, because while most kids are just curious about the universe, the Chutzpah Club is also for the grownups. The club has access to private facilities, like the Museum of History and Technology. It also has access to various weapons and equipment.
The idea behind the club is to stop bad guys and protect the people. As a kid, you might want to just play cops & robbers. But as a grownup, you’re probably just more interested in the toys and the gadgets and stuff. And so you sign up for the Chutzpah Club.
While you probably aren’t too interested in the toys and gadgets, you might be curious about the history of the club, which is pretty fascinating. The club goes back to the 16th century, so I assume these days it is just a bunch of guys with a bunch of cool weapons and stuff. But even if that were the case, you would probably still be interested in the history because it is history.
In fact, the club was created in the early 20th century to honor a Jewish shul (Shulchan Aruch). The shul was in fact the first synagogue in America, and was founded by a Jew named Chaim Weizmann. The purpose of the club was to make sure that every Jew in America had a chance to learn about Judaism, which was a rare thing at the time.
