Well yesterday they posted a new story on their website about the health department’s efforts to reduce the risk of mosquito-borne disease.
The new article is an overview of the mosquito-borne disease outbreak that’s been happening around the region. It gives us some great information about where the cases are and how the health departments are responding.
The link between mosquito-borne disease outbreaks and the Zika virus is a long one. In fact, mosquitoes can carry the disease without ever touching an infected person. That is, unless it’s a mosquito that bites you. This is because mosquitoes have special proteins on their bodies that are designed to only transmit the disease to humans when they bite a person.
