This blog post is a little bit longer than my normal posts as I wanted to capture the essence of what is so special about fabric pens.
I wrote it because I’m a huge fan of the pens that have made the fabric pens industry famous and a lot of new and upcoming pens do have that design element. One of the biggest trends I’ve noticed is that all the pens that are new or have been around awhile are using some kind of white ink. Just like the white ink is a key element of white paper, so white ink is a key element of fabric pens.
The white ink is a color that comes from the ink itself and is a part of the pigment that is in the ink. White ink is a classic design element. It’s been around for thousands of years and is found in many different eras in the arts and craft-style industry. In the modern day, companies like Inverters and Stamps make their own white ink.
The white ink I use is the brand name Tannin. It’s a water-based ink that has a very pale blueish color to it. I use it in my black pen.
I have to say that fabric pens are my most used crafting item. I find myself using them a lot when I’m working on my projects. They’re the perfect solution for making quick, neat, and clean artwork. I can get away with a lot of crazy, bright colors if I’m using white ink, but black ink is just so much more satisfying if I keep it simple and keep the colors clean.
Tannin is a water-based ink that is a white-based pen. I’ve had a lot of experience with water-based pens, but I think white pens are a wonderful thing to have in your arsenal. I would never recommend anyone not to use white pen if they have to. I also like the white nibs of Tannin.
Like I said, if you can get away with black ink, you can do more than just simple, neat, clean artwork, because Tannin is also a permanent marker. It’s like a permanent marker, except you can also use it with a pen.
fabric pens are designed to be wet, so they only have the most basic of nibs. They have thin and broad nibs that are good for drawing on paper, but that are not as good for ink. Some fabric pens have a black nib, but I think you should be able to get away with using white for drawing. I just wish there was an ink that was easy to use with those white nibs and didn’t have to be wet.
The black nibs can only be used with ink and the white nibs can only be used with white ink, so white ink is easier to dry and write with. I’ve been using the white nibs for years and I’m still not sure what the black nibs do. I imagine that they make the pen easier to write on paper, because you can use the black nibs with the white ink. If you’re drawing on paper, then you want the black nibs.
That said, the white nibs are also a pain to write with, so I personally prefer the black nibs. The reason is that they dont have to be wet. This means you can write more on the page and you dont have to worry that your pen will be ruined if you put it down on the page. I also think the black nibs are easier to clean and that it makes the pen look a little nicer. Just my two cents.
