One of the things we do have to do when we have a new baby is help them learn to care for themselves. As a mom, I had a lot of anxiety about the fact that my son would not need me. I had this idea that I would need to be there for him 24/7. I was wrong. I did not have to do anything special to help him learn how to be a parent.
It is not necessary to feel guilty about not taking care of yourself during this time of life. You may have a few physical issues, but it is perfectly fine to take some time off. When I was pregnant with my son, I made several appointments, took a break, took a vacation, and started my own job as a personal trainer. There are many other things you can do to manage your own health in your own way.
We have this saying in American culture that we are all “selfish,” and in many cases, this is true. However, we can’t all be selfish. And many of us are doing our best to do the decent thing instead of feeling guilty or guilty doing the decent thing. I’m just saying.
