I am one of the few people who do not make my brain hurt, and I don’t think anyone else has the right to feel the way I do. I’m not saying you should ignore your body in any way, but you should at least try to control what you do with it. I think meditation, yoga, and reading are very good ways to do this.
If you have any sort of anxiety or stress, you need to get away from your daily routine and do something that calms your mind. Reading and yoga are some good options as well, and while I don’t know of any studies to suggest the benefits of reading are greater than the benefits of meditation, I do know that I do not enjoy meditation as much as reading.
I think this is a great idea. If you are having a hard time taking a shower and your mind starts racing, try to find somewhere quiet where you can read. You can definitely read on the toilet, in a car, or in a public library. I find that you can feel the difference in the quality of your thoughts while you are reading, so it helps to do it someplace where you can actually talk.
For me it is the same thing. I have a hard time sleeping even when I don’t have a problem, so I’ve been reading on the toilet.
I think I actually like the idea of a reading alliance as much as the idea of an alcohol/sedative/anti-anxiety program. I read a lot in the shower, and I think they do a great job of helping me relax. But they also make me feel like I’m not totally at my best when I’m trying to sleep.
A reading alliance can help you relax and get a good nights rest, but if you keep going into your work mode then you will have to face the fact that you have a problem.
But that’s not always a bad thing, because if you keep working at what you do best, you will eventually find yourself in a state of anxiety. When you keep doing what you do best, your brain works against you. So if you start to feel anxious you will start to do the things you don’t want to do. This may not be a problem so long as you are learning new skills to help you overcome your anxiety.

I think there are a lot of mental health issues out there that our society has not yet discovered how to help people with. Some of these are just anxiety related, but some are related to depression, eating disorders, and even ADHD. This is why many people are looking for these online groups, as they are a great way to get help with anxiety.
