The 2013 Conference was a success and my team and I had a great time. The conference was hosted in Chicago at a beautiful location overlooking Lake Michigan, and we had so much fun. I think our biggest challenge was creating a balance between how many people were attending and the amount of information we wanted to share. For example, while we had the opportunity to share information on our “hacks” that are helping, each hack had a different audience and purpose.
The conference was held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Chicago, which is a pretty big deal in the tech world. We had no problem meeting any of the attendees, but we had to be mindful of how much information we shared and how many people we had to share it with. We also had to figure out the right balance between showing the latest news from our company and the company’s history.
We were fortunate enough to have a lot of help from our friends at the Hyatt Regency to not only make our meeting a success, but also to create a nice balance between our company and the other companies that were there.
There were some pretty interesting presentations and panel discussions, including talks on how companies are trying to “push the envelope” (in a good way) in the health care space. I think the biggest takeaway was that health care companies want to be more transparent and to be able to discuss things in a more open forum. We should be more open about our business model and the value we provide to our customers. And that’s the key to getting the attention of our customers.
I think its more than just transparency, its about customer focus. Thats where the real opportunity lies.
The biggest challenge in health care is actually getting the attention of our customers. If we don’t get their attention, we are left with no real choice but to leave them without a doctor. This is one of the reasons why we have to be careful in our marketing.
My dad grew up in a family of doctors and I am sure many of you have read stories on here about how the doctors only practice medicine when they are in the right place at the right time. You hear stories about doctors who refuse to help their patients when they are in the wrong place at the wrong time. Or even when they are in the wrong place in the wrong time.
Well, that’s not really true. Doctors are human – and we are all humans. And we are all a little bit of a mess. We have all done things we regret. And in fact, I would argue that even doctors are not perfect. When you are in the right place at the right time, you are still in the wrong place at the wrong time – even if you are in the wrong place in the right time.
For example, I once sat a doctor who was having a heart attack at the time and he was talking to me about the difference between a patient and a patient. He said that in the right place at the right time, a patient with a heart attack is just someone who is tired, sick and in pain. A patient with a heart attack is not just a person with “a heart attack,” but also someone who has a legitimate problem. And that is why he is still alive.
This is a phrase I’ve heard more than once at conferences. And it is a phrase that I’ve heard many times from different people. But this is the first time I heard it from a doctor. As a result, I thought I had to have heard it a lot.
