I love the star patches over the door of my office. The idea of putting out a patch on the door of my office is nothing new and I think it has gotten a lot of attention recently.
This is really interesting because it ties this topic back into the old topic, that we all tend to think of as a “one thing” but actually is a lot of things.
Star patches are something I’ve seen on a lot of different types of doors. The ones that are made for cars (and a lot of them have this part of the key, the one with the “S” and the “A”) and the ones that are made for other things (and I mean all kinds of things) that are made to look like they’re made from metal (and those are also very common).
Iron on star patches are something that Ive seen on windows, on door handles, on lamp bases. They tend to look different so that you can tell it is for one different thing, but they are almost always different, so they can be easily confused.
Iron on star patches are a bit weird, but most people don’t notice that because they are so common. I know Ive been annoyed by them, and when I was at the gas station I just wanted another gallon of gas and I was trying to figure out how to get one of them. It took me a few tries but I finally figured out that they were just a part of the baseplate of the fuel pump for that pump.
Yeah, they are almost always the same, so the only thing more annoying than seeing a complete set of iron on star patches is just having to go to the mechanic because they are all different. In real life, these patches are easy to spot in cars because they are a bright red color. There are also some weird ones on the pump, but that would be a whole other story.
The baseplate of the pump is actually a bit different than usual, as it has two different designs: a green one and a yellow one. The green one appears to be a standard baseplate, while the yellow one has an extra area on top of it. This is because the yellow baseplate has an extra line that is normally not visible.
Iron on star patches can be a pain in the ass to install, but there are some that are very easy to install. The process is fairly simple, you can simply spray the patch with a sealant. The patch will adhere to your pump and, after some time, you can wipe it off with a rag.
The process for installing patches is a little different than the ones for painting; this time your patch has to be fully sealed before it can be installed. If you don’t seal it before you put it in, it will leak and you might end up with a patch that is not exactly what you want. The process is pretty easy and cheap if you decide to take the challenge of installing iron on star patches.
Patch repair is a pain in the butt, but not for the reasons you might think. Patch installation involves removing the sealant and applying the final paint, which will take quite a bit of time since the patch has to be completely dry before the sealant is applied.
