Letters for the wall decor is a letter wall that you can display letter cards or posters for your wall. The letters are just a big, empty rectangle that you can place on the wall. If you are new to letter wall, I have a few suggestions.
First, I like to keep the letters small and easy to read. It’s easy to accidentally miss one letter and not realize you’ve read it.
One thing that I would caution against is the idea of making a wall where you can put a few letters. It makes sense to make a wall to write on for your letters, but I recommend that you don’t make letter walls that are too big. You don’t want to feel like you’re constantly losing letters. Also, I recommend using a letter grade of B or better for the rest of the letter. B is for “Bold”. A is for “Advance”.
I would also like to recommend the option of using a stamp. Every time I make an envelope it comes out B+ or A+, which is exactly what you want.
If you make large letter walls you might want to consider putting your letters on a frame or a board. It makes sense to use something sturdy to hold your letters, but if you do that you can use any stamp you like. A stamp with the B or A would look good on any letter grade.
If you put your lettering on a frame or a board then you can go back at any time and cut it out and use it again. It makes it very easy to put all the letters on the wall at once. You can also use a stencil to put the B or A on your letters. You could even make a wall frame with the B or A as the frame.
We used this simple, low-tech method to put a few letters on the wall. I was using a standard office paintbrush on a piece of paper and then stencilling the B or A on the paper with a fine brush. I then used a small scotch-tape to attach the stencilled B or A to the back of the letter. I also made a paper frame for the B or A.
I’ll admit I’m a bit of an artist myself, and I’m always trying to improve my skills. One of the things I love about this project is that I can make all these letters from whatever scraps of materials I have at hand. This is much easier than you think because most of the materials you’ll need are in your own home. A stencil is a must.
I got this idea from my sister’s book “The Art of DIY” which also has a great blog post about these types of projects.
