I love neighborhood health clinics, and have spent countless hours working the phones to find the clinic closest to my home. In researching the clinics in Fort Wayne, I found that while the average age of the clinic was about 40 years old, the average number of years they’ve been in business was 4. But despite the fact that the clinics are often found at community centers and health fairs, the majority of Fort Wayne’s health clinics are independent, out-of-town clinics.
The problem here though is that independent health clinics tend to be much more expensive than the big, national, chain clinics where most of my patients come from. The smaller clinics are usually located in neighborhoods where the local community is already quite healthy, and so in many ways they may be better equipped to handle the type of patients that are most likely to benefit from their services.
In short, the best way to get healthy living is to move your family to a neighborhood where your own personal health is already good. In Fort Wayne, that means taking advantage of the community clinics.
Fort Wayne has a long history of health clinics. In the 1950s and 1960s, there was a thriving and thriving health clinic movement that is now known as neighborhood health clinics. The clinics were usually located in areas where there was already a strong local health department and where there were already services offered at a lower price than in other places. With this being said, many people don’t realize how many neighborhood health clinics there are, and this includes my own family.
Neighborhood health clinics are an easy way to get health care for a limited dollar. In 2011 alone, they served more than 11 million people. They are not free services, so please be aware of how much you are going to be spending. But if you are one of the many people who are considering a neighborhood health clinic, you might be in luck. In the beginning, the clinics were located in low income communities, but this has changed and is no longer a bad thing.
While I still feel like I want more money than I get at the community health clinic, the services I get are worth every dollar. Even though I had to pay $35 for my first visit to a clinic, I was so impressed with how helpful the staff was that I chose to pursue my health care here. Plus, the clinics have a very easy and reliable online application process so you don’t even have to submit personal information.
And as a bonus, the clinics are staffed by people of color. So if you’re in the neighborhood, you can count on having a friendly, personable, and knowledgeable health care provider who is able to help you.
Now that I’ve learned about a health care clinic in one of my new neighborhoods, I’ll definitely be coming back in for regular checkups. I think it’s a great place to get a quick health checkup and to get some quick medical advice, or refer a friend who needs care. Plus, the clinics have a very easy and reliable online application process so you dont even have to submit personal information.
But I don’t know about you, but in my neighborhood there are some health care clinics that are hard to find. They are usually located in the middle of nowhere, and some of my friends and I have had to run out to the clinic for an appointment so that we could get our flu shots. I’m not saying that I don’t still have to go see a doctor, but I think its a good way to prevent the flu from spreading.
Well, here’s some good news. There’s not a lot of health care in your neighborhood. But you still have to take your chances. There is an app that allows you to find these clinics through your phone, and it does a good job.
