I think what we have in mind is that we want our thoughts, emotions, and behavior to go beyond the surface and become deeper. The goal is to reach a place of peace, a place where our hearts, minds, and behaviors don’t matter anymore.
This is a great idea. We would like to change the way we think, feel, and act and bring it into our everyday lives. We want to reach that place of peace. But we have no idea where to start and what to expect, so we’re going to do it the old-fashioned way: with writing.

It’s essentially a system where our thoughts and feelings are registered to a computer, and then they are stored for all eternity. We can feel as if we know who we are, what we like, and what we have learned is stored on a computer.

Imagine you were on a computer which kept track of your daily habits, likes, dislikes, and everything else. And the worst part is that it’s not like there is any other way to know your habits. Imagine someone sitting in a room watching you type in a text-based application. Every entry is being read by a program on the computer. Or maybe it’s just a phone, maybe the software reads your voicemails too. You may have to go through a number of steps with the software before you can get into the habit of checking your email.
That’s just how human beings are. We all know that there are many ways to get into a habit, but what about all the other ways that we may not know about? We just have to go through the same steps as the computer software to get into the habit of checking our email. We have no idea when someone is going to leave a message, or what they’re going to say. That’s why habits become so easy to slip into.
So how do we get into a habit of checking our email? We use our brain to remind us to check our email. Its called the “reward system” where you get a reward when you check your email. To get in the habit of checking your email, you have to learn a few things.
One is that the habit of checking your email is only as good as how often you check it. So if you forget to check your email, you will likely spend more time checking than you do actually doing what you should be doing.
This is why I always check my email at least twice a day. The habit of checking emails is also not a habit of thinking of the purpose you are doing it for. It’s more a habit of knowing where your brain is putting you. For instance, I’ll open my email attachment to check my email. I’ll go to the location in my brain that is doing the checking. That location is my attention.
If you are using the most important part of your brain to do something, you are going to forget to do it. That’s why I always check my email at least twice a day.
