When I was in high school, I made valentines for my friends in middle school. This was during an era, when every other year was a holiday or something. I made the cards as a “special occasion” gift. Then I graduated and went on to college. I made valentines for my girlfriend as a special “thank you” gift. Now I’m a single mom with two young children.
I know, I know. That doesn’t make me feel any better. It probably won’t make her feel any better either, but I would love to know that you don’t have to worry about doing a bunch of work in the middle of the night.
I know that there is a lot of pressure when you first get married and everything, but I don’t think it is as bad as it used to be. I am married with two young children. We live in an apartment. For the first year or two, I did most of the work, but that hasnt been the case for a while. There was a point, when I think, “It might be time to relax.” Then it was just all the time.
When you’re a senior, you can relax. And with a lot of effort, you can still do all the chores you had to do during your youth, including things like knitting, quilting, and crafting.
The problem is that the senior community is still very much a work in progress. You can be a well-to-do young adult, or you can be a single mother with kids. It also depends on which day you are. There are a lot of “senior” people who have their own apartments and houses all over the city, but there are also a lot of couples who live together and have a home together.
I’m not a big fan of the term “senior” because it implies a life of luxury and excess. There are some truly amazing seniors out there, but for the most part I think “senior” makes things sound a lot more like a retirement home for the elderly. I’m a little bit of a prude, but I think it’s okay to be a little bit old-fashioned. As long as you don’t need the extra money, it’s fine to be old.
I think that is exactly what the term “senior” implies. But that’s okay. Because there are also a lot of wonderful senior couples out there who have a home on wheels. Like seniors who live in different cities all over the country.
But I want to talk about making valentines to seniors. So, a valentine. If you’re a senior, its easy. You can email the person you love sending you a valentine. Or you can send them a card, even if it was sent to you by another senior. What this means is that you’re not just sending them a card. You’re sending them a day at the beach.
A valentine is a card that includes a letter and a sweet little valentine. The card is the thing that says “please read this and send it to your best valentine.” You then write a letter to the person you love explaining why you want to send the card.
I think of valentines as the closest thing to a romantic date or a proposal. They’re usually sweet, romantic, and sometimes even hint at the fact that you love someone. They are very simple to craft, but are the ultimate gift for the holidays.
